Free Speech Mural Wall ($1673.33):
-What is the academic part of this?
-He is doing this as part of his sculpture class but not being graded on it. --He is doing another project for credit.
-Can you build this next fall?
-He would like to get this approved now because he has trouble speaking in front of people.
-Is the paint necessary?
-The paint is for people to use on the wall after it is built.
-Where would the paint be kept?
-It might be able to be kept in the art department, with public safety, or with facilities
-The paint might be able to be cut out.
-There are a variety of different places that the wall might be built.
-If he turns in req. forms they will not be honored until Aaron Fetrow and Facilities approve this.
-Concerns: senate over-stepping its bounds by approving this semester, chalk could do the same thing, wary of approving something that one is not for and then have the admins think this is something we all want- damages our credibility, concerns about the structure being solid, concerns about being pressured by the proposer to decide quickly, Karl, Malcolm, James, Kass, JD, Katie, Liz, Brittiany,
-It could limit graffiti on campus
-Many of those who want to stand aside are in support of the wall but think there is too much logistical stuff to work out.
-SAM TO BRING NEXT YEAR
Wawa Aba Youth Workshop ($489.99): Proposal from Meisha from Ghana to work on AIDS awareness. They are working with a group in Ghana and have talked to the elders in Ghana and are hoping that the event could be put on in the future.
-Have we ever done anything like this? I don't think so.
-Give them $500.00
-Guilford students are going to be running the event.
-This will be part of the Ghana presentation.
